The month of January is very special as it is the start of the year. New year’s day is a widely recognized holiday and there are other specials days in January, but not recognized as public holidays. Some of the Special Days in January are listed below, which are not widely recognized but observed in different counties or regions.

January is  Alzheimer Awareness Month,  Crime Stoppers Month (Ontario), Ontario March of Dimes Month, and it is the National Hobby Month in Canada. The third week of January is observed as National Non-Smoking Week in Canada.

January 24 International Day of Education In celebration of the role of education for peace and development by the United Nations.
January 26 Family Literacy Day In Canada. Family literacy focuses on parents, grandparents, and other family members to improve their reading and writing skills.
January 27 International Holocaust Remembrance Day UNESCO day to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust
January 28 Tu B’Shevat (Arbor Day) Jewish holiday
