Saskatchewan is one of the prairie provinces in Canada. Saskatchewan shares its borders with Alberta by West, on the north by the Northwest Territories, on the east by Manitoba, to the northeast by Nunavut, and on the south by t Montana and North Dakota (US States). It is one of only two Canadian provinces without a saltwater coast; another province is Alberta.

Regina is the provincial capital and the largest city is Saskatoon. Regina, which means “queen” in Latin, and was named after Queen Victoria who ruled the British Empire till 1901. Nearly 10% of Saskatchewan’s land is freshwater, which is composed mostly of lakes, rivers, and reservoirs. English is the first language of most Saskatchewanians, over 84% are speaking English. Saskatchewan is the “Wheat Basket” of Canada as it produces over 54% of Canada’s wheat crop. mining and energy are the other two major industries in Saskatchewan apart from agriculture.

Saskatchewan separated from the North West Territories and joined the Canadian Confederation in 1905. There are 16 cities in Saskatchewan, the major cities are, Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Swift Current, North Battleford, Melfort, and the border city Lloydminster (partially within Alberta).

Saskatchewan is also known as the “province of 100,000 lakes”. There are many popular tourist attractions, some of them are listed below; The Churchill River, Little Manitou Lake, Fort Carlton Provincial Park, Prince Albert National Park, Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo, Fort Walsh National Historic Site, RCMP Heritage Centre, Batoche National Historic Site, Cypress Hills National Park, T.rex Discovery Centre, Grasslands National Park, Tunnels of Moose Jaw, Qu’Appelle River Valley, Fort Battleford National Historic Site, Remai Modern Art Gallery, etc.
